This afternoon, we received difficult news from the Diocese of Cleveland.
After serious consideration of the grave health risk involved in public gatherings and in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus, the bishops of Ohio have decided -- effective immediately -- to suspend temporarily all publicly celebrated Masses/liturgies, at least through the celebrations of Holy Week and Easter. The bishops of Ohio dispense the Catholic faithful who reside in their respective dioceses and all other Catholics currently in Ohio from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass through Easter Sunday.Catholic Bishops of Ohio
This is a hard day for all of us. I cannot imagine what daily Mass, Sunday Mass, Holy Week, and Easter Liturgies will be like without you, the faithful, gathered together. The reality has not set in yet.
We will give you more direction shortly. For now, for your safety, the church is closed.
We will need your support. Our financial commitment to our employees remains. Only about 25% of our weekly offertory comes in through Faith Direct. Please sign up for online giving at Faith Direct https://membership.faithdirect.net/OH307. Your continued support is essential for us to carry out our mission.
Anointing of the Sick
Even priests are currently restricted from entering nursing homes and hospitals. If you need anointing for a serious illness, please call us before going to the hospital to schedule.
Virtual Pastoral Care
We are still available to you for conversation and prayer. Please reach out by calling the Parish Office at 440-461-0066 if we can be of service to you.
One Final Thought
We put our trust in Jesus Christ who has conquered sin and death by the power of His Cross and Resurrection. In Him is our hope and our sure protection. We pray for those who are infected and for all who are working for a cure and the protection of others.
